DIY Painting projects for beginners: There’s one here for you
I’m not sure who said it first, but it’s amazing what a coat of paint can do. Paint is a great DIY tool because it’s inexpensive and mistakes are fairly easy to correct. This month’s DIY hop is all home decor projects. I’m sharing my favorite DIYs and they all involve paint. Do you have something you want to transform? Is it furniture or something you picked up at a garage sale?
Paint can transform a room, when you paint the walls. It can make an old piece of furniture look new. It can make a traditional frame feel modern and it can make a glass jar into a one of a kind centerpiece.
Chalk Paint for Beginners – This dresser is probably my favorite project because it was my first time to use chalk paint. It helped me to see that you can change anything, and if you don’t like it when you’re done just change it again.
This chest was green, which is fine, but it doesn’t go in my house as a green chest.
Painting Glass – This glass painting project was so fast to do. Painting glass is a good way to see beyond painting furniture. You can transform anything with paint. Glass is nice and small and it’s so easy to wash off if you don’t like the outcome. I am going to paint these again for the holidays in a different color.
Painting glasswork is a great idea for making inexpensive gifts.
Spray Paint A Mirror Frame – Do you have an old picture frame or a mirror that you don’t like the color of? Paint can make an old frame look completely different. Mirrors and frames can be so expensive and they are usually really inexpensive at garage sales and flea markets. Sometimes they need a little TLC (paint).
Painting Tile Floors – Tile floors are really expensive and messy to remove. Even if your tile is grimy and even rusty you can paint over it to look new. It’s a project that can be finished in one day, but you might wake up with a few sore muscles.
Before After
DIY Botanical Painting – Painting your own art is so satisfying. This one doesn’t even require that you are creative. I had never used a stencil when I began this project and it still turned out.
