When it comes to our furry friends, providing them with a comfortable bed isn’t just about ensuring they get a good night’s sleep. It’s also about finding the right fit for your home decor.
My dog practically lives on the couch, but my sister has eight dogs and only so much couch space, so for her dog beds are essential. She has done a lot of research over the years on the best dogs beds and I will share some of her thoughts in this post.
For pet owners dedicated to interior design, a dog bed can become a piece of furniture that blends seamlessly into their living spaces. Here’s where and how to find stylish dog beds that are not just functional but also design-forward.

Deciding on the Best Dog Bed Size
Whether you have small dogs or large dogs like Great Danes, it’s important to get the right size for your dog. Generally, you can follow these guidelines:
- small bed – under 30 pounds
- medium bed – 30-60 pounds
- large bed – over 60 pounds
Most beds come in small or rectangular shapes. This is where knowing your dog helps. If you always find them curled up in a ball, a round will work. If they prefer to spread out, go for a rectangle, or a bed with an edge.
For older dogs with arthritis or joint pain, orthopedic dog beds can go a long way to ensuring they are as comfortable as possible. Most of these are made of memory foam and many have removable, washable covers. My sister has several senior dogs and has tried lots of different orthopedic dog beds. One of her favorites is the Bedsure Orthopedic Dog Bed.
Beds To Match Your Color/Design
Recent years have seen a surge in luxurious dog beds that match any type of décor. These range from plush bed options covered in faux fur to dog crates that are as stylish as your furniture.
These are the best beds I found, starting with the most custom.
J’Adore Custom Beds – they have a wide selection of fabrics, sizes and shapes. This seller has a listing on ETSY but their own site, which I linked here, shows all of the fabrics they have available. You can even get coordinating fabrics on one bed. This company was built by an interior designer. (If you prefer to buy through ETSY, click here).
The farmhouse dog bed – this one comes in 4 different sizes and lots of different colors
The Boho Rattan bed – This is so adorable, even though the fabric is neutral. It would be great if you have a coast vibe.
The modern dog bed (two different fabric options).
If you are looking for something more unique, there’s even a dog tipi for the more bohemian pet parents.
While some pet owners prefer bright colors, others lean towards neutral colors that match any room’s color scheme. Whether you want a dog bed that stands out as a statement piece or one that blends seamlessly, there’s a perfect bed out there.
Easy Maintenance with Machine Washable Options
A machine washable cover is a must for most pet parents. After all, where your dog sleeps is bound to get dirty from time to time, be it from dog treats, dog toys, or pet hair. Having the convenience of tossing the washable cover or cushion cover into the washing machine is a big plus.
One of my favorite places to shop for dog beds with stylish covers is Mollymutt. They sell the covers with cushion inserts but they also sell covers with a stuff sack so you can fill the bed with your own pillow, blanket or whatever you like.
Another option is to use a dog bed that is fully washable. Rather than remove the cover you can just throw the whole thing in the wash. My personal favorite is the Calming Dog and Cat Bed. I have several of these and they are so easy to wash and dry.
Extras for Your Dog’s Bed
Some beds come with an extra cover or top cover, making it easy to swap out designs for different rooms or according to the seasons. For those pet parents keen on always having a stylish home, having these extra covers is a fun option.
Outdoor Dog Beds
You know your dogs are spoiled when they have outdoor dog beds. My sister has several outdoor dog beds and the great thing about these is they have water-resistant, removable covers that you can throw in the wash or just hose down. Her beds came from Mollymutt.
Finding the perfect dog bed that complements your home’s aesthetic and offers a cozy place for your dog to rest has never been easier.
From luxury pet beds to sofa-style beds, from New York modern design to the classic comfort of floor pillows, every pet parent can find the perfect bed.
